Olive trees at Tivoli

Henner took advantage of his Roman sojourn to explore the surrounding countryside. He visited Tivoli for 15 days, and immortalized its landscapes, rich with hills and olive groves, judging by this small painting.

He writes to his friend Goutzwiller about this town:

[...] It's a beautiful country, I enjoyed it [...] and brought back a collection of painted studies.
