portrait d'une femme rousse vêtue de rouge
Jean-Jacques HENNER, Tête de femme © Jean-Jacques Henner, Head of young model. Mlle Dodey, circa 1893 © RMN-Grand Palais / Tony Querrec

This small sketch echoes the codes of Henner's head-painted fantasias: frontal figure, slightly three-quarter bust, frank gaze, long red hair falling to the shoulders, plunging neckline...

In this type of head, the figure generally wears a red (as is the case here) or blue dress, which is why they will sometimes be called "flag woman" by critics: "Red hair, white flesh, blue dress". This type of head will be widely copied by forgers.
