Margaux Laurens-Neel, new artist in residence in the Jean Jacques Henner Museum !
Margaux Laurens-Neel, born in Deauville in 1997, is a Franco-British painter, photographer and sculptor. She lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2021, where she attended the studios of Joann Sfar, famous comic strip author, Eric Poitevin, photographer, and François-René Martin, art historian. Her career was punctuated by a stay at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and another in Berlin.
Today, Margaux is accompanied by Galerie Droste, which recently offered her the opportunity to present her first solo show.
Through a sensual dialogue between painting and ceramics, she questions modes of representation of the naked, carnal and sexual body, and the expression of feminine desire. Using a symbolic bestiary and the language of flowers, clothing, accessories and color...
Margaux offers us to discover and love sensitive figures at the climax of their states of mind, their skin red and heated, their gaze distant and deeply immersed in their inner feelings.
Projet de résidence
Par un sensuel dialogue entre peinture et céramique, elle s’interroge sur les modes de représentation des corps nus, charnels et sexuels, et sur l’expression du désir féminin. Par l’usage d’un bestiaire symbolique et du langage des fleurs, de celui du vêtement, de l’accessoire, de la couleur…
Margaux nous offre à découvrir et à aimer, des figures sensibles, au climax de leurs états d’âme, les peaux rouges et échauffées, le regard lointain et profondément plongé dans leurs sentiments intérieurs.
" Henner, le ruban, la braise " will be the culmination of a dialogue with the work of Jean-Jacques Henner, conjuring up his two emblematic motifs: naiads and women in Alsatian costumes and headdresses.
