Between 1890 and 1905, Jean-Jacques Henner and Madeleine Smith met regularly for posing sessions and painting lessons, the forerunners of a tumultuous and tragic love affair.

Thanks to previously unpublished archives, this talk will shed new light on the ambiguous relationship between the master and his pupil.
