The spirit of the museum
As part of Drawing Week (March 18-25, 2024), the drawings created by Christelle Téa during her residency at the Musée Henner in 2017 are once again on display from March 13 to April 15, 2024. Offered in parallel with the museum's 100th anniversary celebrations, the mini-exhibition "L'esprit des lieux. Le musée Henner vu par Christelle Téa" is an opportunity to honor the institution, portrayed by the artist in all its forms - portraits of rooms, staff and activities.
A moving testimony from a young 21st-century artist to a museum from another era, Christelle Téa's drawings bring the spirit of the place to life.
Christelle Téa's work is essentially based on Indian ink pen drawings, and is characterized by the fact that it is done on the spot, without any preparatory drawings. Christelle Téa does not seek realism in the photographic sense, quite the contrary. For her, drawing means choosing the most significant elements from the complexity of reality. When asked about her portraits, she invokes Alberto Giacometti to define her own work: "It is the very details that make the whole [...] that make the beauty of a form".
