The first major criminal case to be reported in the press in real time, the so-called "Pantin Massacre" made the front page of the Petit Journal at the end of 1869. 

The link with Jean-Jacques Henner ? The victims were Alsatians and one of the crime scenes was painted by our favorite painter. We can imagine his landscapes, his characters, the course of the investigation that led to the discovery of this true and frightening story.
